From Cold and Inefficient to Smart and Reliable Heating

Our client was struggling with a decades-old boiler and undersized radiators, leading to uneven heating, poor water flow, and skyrocketing energy bills. They needed a solution that would deliver consistent warmth, reduce running costs, and integrate modern controls—all without disrupting their family’s routine.

We worked closely with the homeowner—who came to us via a family-friend recommendation—to quote competitively, schedule at a convenient time, and promise a turnkey upgrade.

Replace an outdated boiler and undersized radiators with a modern, energy-efficient system—installed quickly, at a fixed price, and commissioned to UK standards.

How We Did It

Step 1 — Survey & Design

We began with a heat-loss calculation based on the number of radiators and the household’s hot-water needs to ensure correct boiler sizing.

Step 2 — Quotation & Scheduling

We provided a detailed, fixed-price quote and agreed on an installation date that suited both parties.

Step 3 — Material Sourcing

All plumbing materials were sourced from Express Plumbing Supplies, and our team arrived fully equipped with tools to avoid delays.

The Work

First, we protected all floors, carpets, and driveways with dust sheets and boards—maintaining spotless housekeeping throughout. We then flushed the existing system with the old boiler in place to remove sludge and debris.

Next, the old boiler was safely decommissioned: gas-safety checks, disconnection, and removal. We modified the pipework layout to fit the new boiler’s footprint, then installed the unit along with upgraded radiators and any necessary pipe alterations.

Preparation

We cordoned off the working area, covered furniture and floors, and set up waste-disposal bins. Regular clean-ups ensured the site remained safe and tidy—minimising impact on the homeowner’s daily life.

We double-checked all materials and tools before starting major works, ensuring no delays once the boiler was offline.

Installation
  • System Flush & Boiler Fit: Conducted a second flush post-removal, then mounted and connected the new high-efficiency boiler (gas, water, flue).
  • Radiators & Pipework: Installed correctly sized radiators, rerouted flow/return pipework for optimal performance, and balanced each radiator for even heat distribution.
  • Smart Controls: Integrated and calibrated the wireless thermostat for remote scheduling and energy monitoring.
Finishing Touches

Performed final leak and pressure checks, made any minor plaster repairs around new pipe runs, and removed all protective coverings.

The Results

The homeowner now enjoys a brand-new condensing boiler with a 4-year parts & labour warranty, improved water flow, and fully remote heating control via their smart thermostat.

The entire system was tested and commissioned to British Standards (including benchmark testing).
